The Youth Group & EmployabilityUK have partnered with Watford & West Herts Chamber of Commerce to deliver a free online event to connect young people both on and not on the Kickstart Scheme with employers who have Kickstart vacancies they need to fill.

The aim of the Kickstart Job Shop is to bring more awareness to the Kickstart Schemes and the job roles available through it. We know a lot of young people may not be aware of the Kickstart Scheme due to it being locked behind being on Universal Credit, that’s why we’re opening this event to people enrolled in and not enrolled in the Kickstart Scheme right now.

Kickstart employers will have their own virtual space on the Watford Chamber of Commerce’s platform REMO. This will allow young people to move freely between each employer’s digital space and learn about each job role. There will also be one-to-one tables that employers can jump on with a young person to interview them there and then.

Furthermore, the Department of Work and Pensions and Jobcentre Plus will have a table, giving young people and employers the opportunity to get their Kickstarter role filled out as quickly as possible. It’s not mandatory, but having the option gives young people and employers the opportunity to take the process as quickly or slowly as they want.

Ultimately, the goal is to fill job vacancies and get young people a job. There are so many young people eager to find work with no outlet to do so, especially during these hard times. This event hopes to provide that outlet, giving young people the paid work experience to kickstart their future careers.

The event is on Wednesday 12th May, from 4pm - 5:30pm. You can sign up through the Watford Chamber of Commerce website here:
